About Monterey History &
Art Associations Programs
Monterey History & Art Association offers an array of programs for
school-age students, the general public, and its members. Just a few are
summarized here; by joining the Association, you’ll be up-to-date with
all calendared events at MHAA!
Student Programs - The Living History Labs are a comprehensive
interactive educational experience for third, fourth and fifth grade
students of selected Monterey schools. They are designed to give
students a hands-on opportunity to learn about Monterey’s rich and
diverse history and the people who lived it. The student becomes a
participant in history rather than an observer.

Public Programs -
Families and friends who want to learn more about Monterey’s waterfront
heritage are welcome to join “Along the Waterfront”— a three-mile tour
by bicycle from the Maritime Museum along the Recreation Trail. Feel a
little wobbly on a bike? Try a “Fishing for History” walking tour,
starting at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Click here to learn more about
Public Programs.
Member Events - Attending some of our fun and fascinating events
are an important perk of membership in Monterey History & Art
Association. Some enjoy a long history: The Merienda, a
Mexican-accented celebration of Monterey’s Californio days, has
taken place on the first Saturday in June since
19XX. Others mark the opening of museum exhibits; some are
offered by Los Amigos, the fund-raising arm of MHAA.
