The Stanton Center/Maritime Museum of Monterey
The Maritime Museum is located near Fisherman’s Wharf in downtown
Monterey. The museum is within walking distance of several major
hotels and adjacent to a large public parking lot, making it
particularly popular for corporate events and receptions. The
Stanton Center Theater offers lecture-style seating for 100, as well
as a small stage, projection equipment, and lighting.
A fully operating lamp from Point Sur Lighthouse is the focal point
of the Museum, which comprises two story of maritime history. The
400-square-foot lobby makes a great dance floor, with an overhead
bridge that’s the perfect place for a jazz trio or DJ. It can seat
150 guests in the upstairs museum or accommodate 500 for a
‘strolling dinner’ between buffet stations. The open-air deck looks
out over Fisherman’s Wharf, Monterey Bay, and Custom House Plaza.
The Maritime Museum is suitable for everything from intimate dinners
for 60–120 people (depending on current exhibits) to receptions for
400. The property has a kitchenette and prep room, and easy access
for caterers, decorators and photographers.
The rental fee includes a facility supervisor who remains on-site
for the duration of the event. Docent may be requested for an
additional fee.

| Casa Serrano
Casa Serrano is one of Monterey's oldest
and most historic homes, constructed of adobe and redwood in 1843.
It is furnished with antiques and local artwork, from the Spanish,
Mexican and early American periods. Among its treasures is a piano
that was shipped ‘around the Horn’, a massive mahogany table that
can seat 22, and a suite of horsehair settees.
Casa Serrano provides an elegant setting for a wedding, a reception
or both, and is also a comfortable, serene setting for meetings,
corporate or spiritual retreats, anniversary teas and birthday
parties. It features two separate patios connected by a brick path;
both have access to the grande sala. The larger patio can
also be entered from the street, allowing a party to have several
distinct phases and moods.
Casa Serrano accommodates up to 66 for seated meal and up to 125 for
a reception. It has a complete commercial kitchen. The standard
rental fee includes the use of the garden and patios, and a facility
supervisor who remains on site for the duration of the event.
Although there is no on-site parking, several public lots are within
a few minutes’ walk, and there is also on-street parking in the
area.
